e

I'm sure a lot of you have seen or heard about this already. Back in July Google put up a billboard which read:

{first 10-digit prime found in consecutive digits of e}.com

For whatever reason I stumbled onto this fact just this past Saturday. At first I thought "neat trick, but I'm not going to waste any time on this."

But of course, the inner geek (ok, and the outer geek) kept nagging me about the puzzle.

Last night I finally succumbed and started working on the problem a little after 10:00pm.

It turns out the billboard puzzle is just the first of two puzzles. The nice thing is the second puzzle was quite interesting as well, and builds very nicely on the programmatic solution to the first puzzle.

I was actually quite impressed with the whole thing, even though it was around midnight by the time I successfully navigated to the Google Labs job site.
